A number of opportunities are available for nurse and midwives to collaborate and build their experience/exposure to research

  1. ARC’s Collaborating in applied health research | NIHR
  2. In 2022 the NIHR launched the Senior Research Leader programme for nurses and midwives.  This exciting initiative welcomes the 1st cohort in April 2023.  Keep an eye open for further opportunities to apply in 2023.
  3. NIHR have announced the launch of a new element of the NIHR Committee Member Development scheme, specifically for nurses and midwives. NIHR  are offering nurses and midwives at Band 6 or above (or in an equivalent academic role) the opportunity of mentored support to experience and contribute to committee activity in the HTA or HSDR Programme for a 12 month period. It is hoped successful applicants to the one year development scheme will feel ready to apply for a standard three year committee position at some point in the future, having gained valuable exposure to research applications and committee processes as part of the development scheme.

Please have a look at the advert on the NIHR website which also contains links to guidance and the application form. This  is a positive move towards increasing nurses and midwives’ familiarity with NIHR research funding activity.

The deadline is 23 May 2023.
